Sierra Club Notes Pollution Tolerance By Wisconsin DNR

Fine op-ed:
Rewarding those who lie and cheat is apparently how Walker's Department of Natural Resources operates. The DNR is supposed to refer serious environmental violations to the state Department of Justice. Under Walker's regime, these referrals have dropped to less than a third of what they were over the past 12 years.

Why? DNR staff describe a climate in which they are to avoid writing tickets. The lack of enforcement on one of the "worst cases" seen by DNR staff smacks of Walker appointees' favors to friends and campaign contributors, despite staff recommendations and evidence of possibly falsified records, prior violations and grave risks to human health.
