And the shrugging reaction by the State Journal and J-S is telling. The J-S at least admits Walker "had to return" his contribution from a "business group," but they conveniently don't mention in their headline that it's the MMAC. I'm sure the J-S's membership in that oligarch club has no effect on its soft-selling.
The Wisconsin State Journal buried the whole thing, and only had it as a headline for a few hours. Don't know about you, but I find the discovery of a governor taking $170,000 in illegal PAC money pretty important. Call me old-fashioned, I guess.
Illegal campaign contributions should be required to be forfeited to the public campaign finance fund together with the fine. Getting the money back and paying a fine that is less than three tenths of a percent of the money involved is not much of a dissincentive. Walker's campaign would then almost replace tne money he raided from that fund.
yeah, I have never regretted letting my membership there expire.
ReplyDeleteSo can we take back the influence this money had too?
ReplyDeleteThey laugh at this no doubt.
