Guns-In-The-Classroom Lasee To Run For US Senate in Wisconsin

State Sen. Frank Lasee, who thinks the three "R's"  are rifles, Rugers and revolvers, is  throwing his holster into the ring, reports Don Walker at the Journal Sentinel..

Does this make Mark Neumann the new Republican primary moderate, and Tommy the lefty?

For separation, Lasee could make the carry provision mandatory, and even on-the-hip.

Update: Thanks to the commenters for this link and peek into Lasee's temperament:

The transcripts of Lasee's 2003 divorce offer some clues...

Brown County Circuit Judge Sue Bischel sounded exasperated when she addressed Lasee on June 27, 2003:

"Mr. Lasee, if you laugh at me one more time, I am really going to get ornery. I have tried very hard to treat you with respect. I see you smirking. I see you grinning. I can hear it. I am so disappointed. ... I have found over the years that it is getting increasingly difficult to get people to respect the court system and the judicial system.

"And I think you have probably learned in the Legislature some similar things. Politicians are getting a bad rap and a bad name these days. And frankly, I think it is often undeserved. But behavior like that disappoints me more than I can tell you. I don't like it. I am disappointed. I am sad. I am sometimes angry when I get it from people who are uneducated, who have been treated badly by the system. And I am, I am on the verge of tears about it when it comes from someone in your position."

Lasee acknowledged he had been smirking ...

After he repeatedly interrupted the judge, she warned Lasee he would be held in contempt of court.

"I do not recognize the legitimacy of this court because you are not ... unbiased. I have proof to that effect," Lasee said, then walked out of the courtroom.

Judge Bischel: "Call the court officer. Mr. Lasee, you are in contempt. Reluctantly, I am reluctantly finding this gentleman in contempt. I have tolerated more from him today than I probably have from anyone else who has come into the court. His behavior was way over the top."

Later, she noted Lasee answered and made cell-phone calls while his wife was on the witness stand, and left to use the phone and rest room during proceedings, adding, "I have never had that happen in 11 years."

Interestingly, Lasee was well aware his divorce transcripts are public record.

He told the judge he was "long winded" in response to questions because "anything and everything that has been said here today may some day be spun in a commercial against me."

  1. I'm not wild about them in a classroom (unless you have used the "my dog ate my homework excuse enough already") But as of right now I am 1000% in favor to the Castle Doctrine.
For the first time in my life I am thinking about getting self-defense training and actually giving serious thought to what it would be like to have some kind of serious weapon (yes even a gun) in my house. You will get all "uppity" about this, but I know where you live, and you do not live here. You do not have to deal with the same things I do, because your expensive neighborhood protects you. I need to start thinking about what to do when my door finally gives in, or when window glass does not deter.

I don't love concealed carry because it makes people harder to be charged with a crime. If an intruder is stopped by police before they gain entry, it is not considered B and E, and you still have the terror of having wondered what they will do when they get in, but it can not be proved in court, They get a very minimal charge, and that is often thrown out or not prosecuted by jaded DAs or Judges. If such a person was found with a gun on them, that would be something they could be charged with in these types of difficult-to-prosecute cases. Now, it is just like having your car keys in your pocket. That's bad for enforcement possibilities in my opinion.

So.. Mr. Outrage, What would you tell your wife? or daughter if you have one? Just lay there and take it? or defend yourself if someone breaks in to your home. In that publicized case that ppl are now discussing, no I would not go out into my garage and shoot to protect my weed-wacker and garbage can. BUT if a guy succeeds in breaking in TO MY HOUSE I should not have to submit to whatever he has in mind, nor should I have to watch him victimize a more vulnerable family member than me either. Really imagine that - have you ever faced that possibility? Liberal doctrine goes out the window the second that guy busts down the door. Now we're dealing with reality, not P.R.
If a guy breaks in I should not have to go to prison because I tried to blow his head off. It is what he deserves. Yes.Because the other option is - that I DESERVE "IT". The "it" being whatever Mr. Creepy has in mind. I Do NOT Deserve It.

As I get older, and as this happens one or more times a year, I know I can't take it too many more times, I will get a gun. Can't take it no more. Really can not. I "know a guy" and can get gun/target training. I'm really thinking about it, but it would be so unfair for me to have to spend my golden years in Taycheedah because I didn't stand by and watch a family member get used.

If you would really look me in the eye and argue in defense of such a person and say I should "take it" when a person enters my home by force...then I just don't know what the heck makes you tick at all.
LOL I guess the answer to that would be "talking points"

    Castle Doctrine YES!

  2. At least he didn't shoot the guy who saved his life.

  3. Other terms for the Castle Doctrine are License to Kill or Shoot to Kill.

    Just what we need. Not.

  4. To Annie K; The posting was about guns in classrooms.

  5. Let's not forget that Frank Lasee previously wanted to limit the number of lawyers who could practice in Wisconsin. Right after his divorce proceeding was finalized. Apparently he wasn't happy with his 'deal.'
This guy has the intellectual capacity of a box of rocks. If he were to be elected the other Senator from Wisconsin, it would truly be a case of "Dumb and Dumber." "Lasee and Johnson: fighting hard to take Wisconsin even lower." or "Lasee and Johnson: Representing Wisconsin, One Senator at a Time."

OMG--I have to stop! I'm making myself sick!

  8. Annie K: I take it you don't have a lot of experience with guns. I am guessing you have never pointed one at a human being and pulled the trigger. Let me tell you, it is not as easy as it looks on TV. Even law enforcement officers who get lots of training and practice freeze up at the moment of truth, or they are shaking so badly from the adrenalin in their system that they flat-out miss.

The problem I have with gun advocates is that they simply gloss over this incredibly important point: safely and successfully defending yourself with a firearm is very, very hard. The notion of Granny scooping her .380 off the dresser and dropping a bad guy is almost pure fantasy.
Likewise, only a fool would think that arming teachers would somehow make schools safer.

My advice: Buy yourself a couple of cans of pepper gel, the new stuff that can shoot 15 feet. Practice with one can and keep the other one ready for home defense. In most situations it will be as useful as a gun. And if you happen to shoot yourself with it, you won't be very happy, but you won't die.

  9. I'd bet the former Mrs Frank Lasee has some interesting tales to tell.

  10. Yes, Jim. But other than the "He's effing NUTS!!!" argument, what do we haqve against the guy?

  11. He is paying child support for fathering a child not with his wife (or ex-wife I should mention). Good republican values do as I say, not as I do kind of guy. Is this why he divorced? Probably.

There were some classrooms in this country where a kid could not even say the word "gun" or he or she would be expelled. There was zero tolerance for these "gun free zones" that were set up, remember?, how about Columbine? These extremes were probably some knee jerk ractions to the gun issue, but.... how soon we forget.
