DNR Says Forest Fire Helped Produce Dangerous Air Quality Readings In Wisconsin

The air quality is bad for everyone, not just for the elderly or others with health problems.

Advisory for Particle Pollution (Red)
  1. Issued: 10:05 am CST Wednesday, September 14, 2011
Start Time: 10:00 am CST Wednesday, September 14, 2011
End Time: 11:00 pm CST Wednesday, September 14, 2011
    Counties: Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Waukesha

    Additional Information

The advisory is being issued because of persistent elevated levels of fine particles in the air. These fine particles come primarily from combustion sources, such as power plants, factories and other industrial sources, vehicle exhaust, and wood burning.
The Air Quality Index is currently in or expected to soon be in the red level, which is considered unhealthy for everyone, especially people with heart or lung disease including asthma, older adults and children. When a red advisory is issued for particle pollution, everyone should cut back or reschedule strenuous activities and people in sensitive groups should avoid any strenuous activity.
People with lung diseases such as asthma and bronchitis, and heart disease should pay attention to cardiac symptoms like chest pain and shortness of breath or respiratory symptoms like coughing, wheezing and discomfort when taking a breath, and consult with their physician if they have concerns or are experiencing symptoms. Fine particle pollution deposits itself deep into the lungs and cannot easily be exhaled. People who are at risk are particularly vulnerable after several days of high particle pollution exposure.

  1. Surely this must be Walker's fault, or perhaps the Koch brothers started the fire in MN?

Meanwhile, I feel sorry for all of those people who call the police when their neighbors are burning leaves in the fall... This has to be the worst sensory nightmare that their noses could ever have imagined.

Last night I went out side and put a marshmallow on a stick and just held it straight up in the air. Tasted great!
