Tuesday is gone and next Tuesday the 16th brings the last of the Wisconsin Senate recall elections, where Democrats Bob Wirch in the Kenosha area (southeastern Wisconsin) and Jim Holperin, from Conover, in the northern part of the state.
Barring any last-minute discovery of bags of ballots, both should win, as they are veteran legislators with good records.
And their opponents are at the fringes and margins of mainstream politics.
I love your attitude. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWe will see who is exactly 'lesser' next Tuesday night.
ReplyDeleteAt a minimum looks like we will be replacing yet another male State Senator with a female taking the Republican advantage back up to at least 2, and possibly 3.
Woo hoo!

I don't think we'll be taking anything for granted.
ReplyDeleteMy assessment is that Wirch will win fairly comfortably similar to Alberta Darling 54-46
ReplyDeleteSimic has a better chance, but I still think Holperin holds on by 1-2% 51-49.
Of course this depends upon turnout. I could also see reasons that both sides fall off and let their candidates down.
Democrats don't show up because there is no way to take the senate, or Republicans don't show up because there is no way they can lose the senate. It is all about keeping the momentum going and getting your base enthusiastic. The Republicans have the momentum coming off Tuesday night, so they will need to maintain it with a good showing.
I thought this was an interesting "pants on fire" issue. Perhaps I missed the blog post about this one?

2 of our Democratic party senators from ILL. Democratic party is protesting because Ill residents won't be eligible to vote for them because they don't have the proper ID.
