In Simac's Tea Party World, Less Is More - - And Better

It is not completely surprising that Tea Party candidate Kim Simac - - the 'Repubican opponent iagainst incumbent Democratic Senator Jim Holperin in next Tuesday's Up North recall election - - cannot name a single bill she either supports or opposes.

The Senate and bills?  Who cares: As Stephen Colbert might say, it's not about facts, it's about how you feel in your gut.

Tea Partiers do not believe in science (climate change is a hoax), the Constitution, (Michele Bachmann on what's unconstitutional, Ron Johnson thinking the document gives him the right to select federal court nominees, so he's blocking one. Also see Johnson, climate change, sunspots), finance (let's run the national government by tripping and celebrating a credit downgrade - - see Tea Partiers whoop it up video), or things generally (see Tea Party candidate Michele Bachmann, etc.)

Facts - - such as, are delinquent taxes delinquent? - - do not matter to ideologues who have their own language (Simac on "perspiration" drugs, and "perception" drugs), history (see Bachmann, above) and outlook  - - again, the video about the credit downgrade and "onjectiving us" - - that is separate from mainstream realities.

So why should basic knowledge of the state government that Simac seeks to help operate, fund and constantly evaluate be of any consequence?

Some clues to Simac's thinking have been removed from blogs and websites, but Glenn Beck did tout her latest children's book, With My Rifle By My Side, here.

  1. I believe there is a clear answer to this question and I don't think it will be seen as detrimental to her "base".
I translate her message as -
" I am not politics or governance as usual, I do not have wonkish views on bills and details like career politicians and Big Government Tax&Spend Liberals. These are my values, and when I am faced with ethical problems and specific Bills I will respond to them as a follower of Jesus Christ and with the Kingdom of Heaven as my guide."
So I think people can laugh and poke fun all they want. "prove" her stupidity or whatever, the people she wants to reach will only feel that much more sympathetic to her(and I'd guess she is hopeful some that are not normally involved will come out for her)
If pampered elitist liberals laugh and call her stupid they're only proving to her supporters that they're... pampered elitist liberals with no respect for The Lord and the Natural Order that supercedes vain and prideful man-made, secular humanist, tax and spend socialist state-glorifying mess we are in and that Kim will face with humility and genuine faith.

Harping on how stupid Tea Partiers are might rally The Boys, but it plays into and validates the conservatives characterization of what Libs Are Like. If you work in a truck stop in Kim Simac's part of the state and you aren't sure what's going on, but you know some college-educated guys who get to sit at desks all day are busting heron her spelling and calling her dumb....you might respond emotionally. Which is exactly what Kim Simac seems to want. Yes, she is all about the vague emotional appeal, and...gosh that's been workin' so far, for a lot of people.

Footnote - I haven't seen any real assessment of why it would be a big loss to lose Holperin. Presumably since he's not i Milwaukee no one knows/cares. Still, that's a vote for The Team so...anybody know? What's old Jim done for these couple of decades that will counteract her emotional appeals?
    Anybody? Anyone at all?
    Beuller?

p.s. I will now make it my policy to NEVER (as opposed to my current policy of "sometimes/when the moon is full") check my spelling/typing/grammar. Hopefully I'll get dozens of bloggers posting on my INCREDIBLE stupidity and then finally get my 15 minutes of fame that I've been waiting for.
I can't sing, so YouTube is outta the question.

  2. And, as you can see, Simac "refudiates" statements made against her. ;-)

  3. Also, minus 50 points that no one seems to have called her Dim Kim yet. That seems like something one of these guys would feel really proud about having thought of for his headline. All caps too baby, all caps. Helps you appreciate the wit that much more.

  4. Wow - you progressives must be really, really worried about this race since you have now gone all full monte moon bat on Kim Simac.

  5. AnnieK: Please take your "Natural Order" and exit the room quietly. And please try to remember that millions and millions of Americans do not accept Jesus Chist as their personal savior, and are fine people nonetheless.

Bachmann is not just politically naive. She has proven again and again that she's an idiot. She told the media that John Wayne came from her home town of Waterloo, when in fact she had the actor confused with serial killer John Wayne Gacy. She told people not to answer census questions because the information would be used to sort them for shipment to concentration camps. She has repeatedly said that the Founding Fathers worked to abolish slavery, when in fact many of them were slaveholders and slavery in this country wasn't abolished for almost 100 years after the Declaration of Independence.

I've worked in a few truckstops myself, and I know the appeal for many people of a perceived anti-intellectual politician. It's what got W. elected, after all. It's also how we let him stumble us into a stupid war that will cost us as much as the deficit all the right wingers are suddenly so worried about.

Nobody in the truckstop would tolerate a mechanic who spouted crazy theories about engine exhaust and didn't do professional level repairs. Somehow when it's politics the rules are different. To our detriment.
