But alarmed that incumbent David Prosser might lose on April 5th to JoAnne Kloppenberg in the wake of the Walker backlash, the WMC pledged to buy him ad support - - and, to buy the ads, has sent out an urgent funds appeal soliciting unlimited funds.
The letter begins with no sense of ironic embarrassment:
March 22, 2011:
Dear WMC Member,
The government worker unions are openly attempting to overturn the November elections, buying an activist majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court...Then bold-faces the truth about who can buy what these days, with a no-nonsense kicker:
Please make a generous corporate contribution to counter their efforts. Donations are unlimited and undisclosed...
You might also check out Lisa Kaiser's recent prescient Shepherd interview with Prosser. where the whole issue of court-buying and the WMC's influence got aired.
Please, give today. Our business climate is at stake.
WMC is upset. They already bought and paid for a majority of the court, and now they have to pay for Prosser again. darn!
