I'm no artist, but if I were and Wisconsin's fast-rail money goes to Ilinois or North Carolina, et al - - I'd be working on a permanent public reminder that we could hang at the Milwaukee Intermodal station, or have emblazoned on a new billboard, and I will send in another contribution for it:
"Mission Accomplished: I Killed Wisconsin's Fast Train and 4,700 jobs."
Light rail would not be used just like the bus bike racks. It just is not worth the cost until gasoline is unaffordable and people would use it. Rail advocates have to come to grips with the reality that the car is king and will be for the foreseeable future.
ReplyDeleteBut the reality is when we really needed it, we really wouldn't be able to afford it. Real leadership recognizes, it. But not this ideological twit.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nightmare.
The bus bike racks get used. The MKE to Chicago rail line gets used. The Madison to MKE to Chicago and points beyond line will be used.
ReplyDeleteAnd there is a lot of improvements that can be made too. But we gotta start building it.
