Former Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist, now the CEO at the Congress for the New Urbanism, has been talking about this for years; cities have cultural advantages that suburbs cannot provide.
One form is not for everyone, obviously, though government policy - - highway building, mortgage and interest deductions, public bonding and tax programs, and more - - tilted the playing field towards the suburbs.
Not it looks like the market, and individual choice, are speaking loudly.
