State College Republican Chair Joins

Democratic Party on Eve of RPW Convention,

Calls Republican Party Too Extreme for Wisconsin

MADISON — State Rep. Jon Richards and DPW Membership Director Sean Berger welcomed outgoing Wisconsin College Republicans Chair Lora Rae Anderson, a UW-Eau Claire Senior, officially into the Democratic Party.

Anderson spoke at a brief event at the Organizing for America Office in Milwaukee on the eve of the Republican Party of Wisconsin's State Convention. Anderson, who spoke last year at the Republican Convention in La Crosse, blasted the state party, calling it too "extreme" and saying that it is "alienating a younger, more progressive generation."

"While Republicans are busy narrowing their party to meet the approval of the extreme Tea Party, Democrats are happy to welcome young people like Lora Rae Anderson to the party," said Mike Tate, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. "As Republicans continue to offer more and more extreme slogans, but no solutions, we expect more young people and working families to follow Lora's lead and abandon the Republican Party."

Anderson said she was motivated to join the Democratic Party after seeing Republicans work to repeal health care reform that would take away the ability of young people to be covered on their parent's plan until they turn 26, and to take away tax cuts for thousands of Wisconsin businesses to offer health insurance and take away $60 billion in additional student loan funding created by ending government subsidies to big banks. Anderson said she also was motivated by Sen. Russ Feingold's strong history of aggressively fighting to cut spending and reduce the deficit created by eight years of Republican rule.

"Republicans complain a lot about taxes, but actions speak louder than words and I noticed recently that under Democrats, Wisconsin's tax ranking has dropped to its lowest level in almost 50 years," said Anderson.

Republicans’ march toward Tea Party extremism began early this year when reality tee-vee star and Congressional candidate Sean Duffy agreed to appear at a Wisconsin Tea Party rally where white supremacist "Col." John Eidsmoe had been scheduled to speak.

  1. Ahhhhh . . . . Ummmmm . . . . who exactly is Lora Rae Anderson?

If this is what you Dem's seriously consider to be 'major', that is just pathetic.

Btw in both of your previous posts, you referred to this person as a RINO, which pretty much undercuts the significance of this, if there had been any in the first place.

And please run with that touting of Wisconsin being a low tax paradise as a state-wide campaign strategery - this is gonna be really fun come election day.

  2. This isn't even new. How old is this, two, three months?

Why children should be seen and not heard.

And here I thought it was going to be Sheriff David Clarke or somebody. Oh wait, Clarke is a Democrat.

  5. Actually James your RINO assessment of this Meghan McCain wanna-be was 100% spot on.

Poor little Lora Rae gets her nose out of joint because she likes being covered by mommy and daddy's health care insurance, regardless of the fiscal fiasco Obama-care is, and because of her support of the Federal takeover of student loan program?

Btw if anyone wants to see a pic of Lora Rea, just look up RINO in the dictionary . . .

  7. Quit picking on the college girls, Anon Jim. Or shall we get a restraining order?

To Wigderson: Your daughter isn't going to be small forever. Just wait till she's a college senior and some nasty adult picks on her . . . for making a choice she is entirely entitled to make. So take your sneering attitude down the road, Wiggy.

  8. My daughter, when she graduates convent school, will have the common sense and decency not to embarrass herself in public.

But either little Lora is old enough to stand up to the criticism, or else she's young and immature enough that we shouldn't take her pronouncements seriously.
