Flash forward to, say, 2012:
The Scene: The Apex Bugkiller Zoo (formerly the Milwaukee County Zoo.
Little Boy: "Mom, where are all the animals? I don't like these displays of bug sprays."
Mom: " I know, honey. But Scott Walker said the animals were too expensive to take care of. The new Zoo is doing things differently."
Little Boy: "But I want to see the penguins and the camels."
Mom: "Look, sweetie: The cockroach room."
The end.
Maybe privatizing the Zoo is the step-too-far that reveals the GOP gubernatorial candidate's overly one-dimensional approach to government.

We'll see...
James - do the "half or more" of major zoos around the country that are run by nonprofits feature a cockroach room?
ReplyDeleteCould you please provide that link?
And what about the other metropolitan Counties around the U.S. that run fish-farms? Ohhh that's right, there aren't any.
I am a longtime Wisconsin resident, now living in Indiana, but I grew up going to the Milwaukee Zoo. I can say from experience that privatizing the Zoo is probably a GOOD idea! It has worked wonders for zoos in Phoenix, Indianapolis, and elsewhere. Recently Dallas has done so and now their future is bright. The Oregon Zoo in Portland is also considering this. I definitely vote in favor of this step!

Mr. Nyhuis - unfortunately as long as the idea of privatizing the Milwaukee is being proposed or supported by Scott Walker - lefties like James Rowan will never ever support the effort.
ReplyDeleteInstead he will make idiotic "Cockroach Room" predictions.
Who is this James Rowan?
