Marc Eisen Thinks Big About Madison

The former editor at Isthmus has been the authoritative journalistic voice about that city's development for years, and is still at it.

  1. And -- did you notice -- in all of the talk about connecting a city to a lake, Milwaukee is mentioned just once?

  2. To enoughalready; I did notice that, and figured this was because Marc was writing about Madison.

  3. Thanks for the praise. Milwaukee is worthy of mention. Some of the people I interviewed cited Summerfest as a good example of how a city can use its lakefront to benefit the public.

But if Madison were to learn something from Milwaukee, I think the best object lesson is the Pabst-Riverside-Turner Hall operation. What a marvelous entertainment dynamo! Madison's struggling Overture Center could learn a thing or two from its Milwaukee cousin.
