Milwaukee-Madison Train Link Qualifies For 80% Federal Funding
As Gretchen Schuldt points out, project cost estimates are up, but so is the popularity of Amtrak service in the state, so why not go for the available federal funding and make this rail link a reality?
It's unfortunate that our city and region struggles to get solid plans in place. If we had something far enough along in the plans (maybe KRM?) then the in the next stimulus package we'd actually have a chance of getting something done.
At one point I knew at least four people who commuted to and from Madison and Milwaukee on a daily basis. I still have to do it on occasion myself, and would absolutely love to have a rail line running there rather than lose three hours each time I do it.
