The state Public Service Commission says that wind turbines placed offshore in the Great Lakes would be better energy generators than those installed inland.
Sounds promising, though we're far from seeing these installations offshore, for a variety of legal, financial and political reasons.
The PSC study was prompted, in part, by a private firm's approach to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, first reported on this blog, proposing the placement of more than 600 turbines in Lake Michigan - - each structure rising more than 300 feet in the air.
