Our neighbors up in Minnesota have already done what we in Wisconsin can't seem to accomplish - - have the state legislature adopt amendments to the Great Lakes Compact to establish rules and standards to improve and preserve the Great Lakes.
Discussion of doing the same thing in Wisconsin is still stuck in a legislative study committee that hasn't met for months because some business and political interests in Waukesha County can't grasp the concept of shared water conservation and resource management - - essential if the Great Lakes are to avoid raids by pipeline and diminution through unreasonable diversions.
Climate change is also getting a reasonable discussion in Minnesota: I guess we could learn a few things from our neighbor to the northwest.
Hat tip to Dave Dempsey, whose blog over there on the blog roll is always worth a read.
