Milwaukee/Oak Creek transportation double-standards
I am positive the same people objecting to federal transportation assistance - - in the form of a property write-down - - as a lever to monkey-wrench a multi-purpose Milwaukee Lakefront development that incorporates a proposed streetcar station will find nothing to complain about in this Oak Creek Lakefront development a few miles to the south of Milwaukee that is to receive a federal transportation grant.
The difference?
In this region, suburban development is the right's Holy Grail, while Milwaukee development is the right's scapegoat that fuels an anti-city and very Republican narrative.
Any consistency about the benefits of federal transportation assistance need not be applied.
