Open-Pit Iron Mine Plan Fading

One report has the GTac project in suspension, perhaps cancellation.

GTac says some work is on hold; the overall plan could shrink to an Iron County-only project, leaving out Ashland County altogether because there is strong opposition there.

Huge treaty, legal, financial, environmental, and permitting obstacles remain.

If the project were withdrawn, might GTac want the return of a formerly-secret $700,000 campaign donation routed to Scott Walker prior to his 2012 recall re-election?

Not sure if Pay-to-Delay or Pay-to-Dismay is in the post-Citizens United playbook.

Also no editorial yet in the Journal Sentinel - - the state's leading daily newspaper - - commenting on the donation, and of other large sums of formerly-secret money similarly routed to Walker and other GOP recall campaigns.

The once-secret campaign funding and coordination was disclosed in Federal Court documents 14 days ago.

News is perishable; the expiration date for commentary on this story is fast approaching.

Well this is NEWS to me. I live in Northeastern Wisconsin and the proposed mine would have been located due West in Iron County. One more reason to Vote Blue in November and hit the eject button on Walker. As if we needed another reason. Polls today show Mary Burke leading Walker slightly but has trended upward over the past several weeks. The State of Wisconsin deserves better and better is in sight. ON WISCONSIN!!
