GOP's Laughable Class Criticism Of Mary Burke

The Grand Old Party attacks Democrat Mary Burke for being born into the family business - - the Trek bicycle company.

Right. She didn't claw her way to wealth and influence, like, say Jim (Kimberly-Clark) Sensenbrenner.

Or Ron Johnson.

Or the Fitzgerald brothers' father Stephen, who got appointed head of the Wisconsin State Patrol by newly-elected Gov. Scott Walker...after Fitzgerald senior had lost an election for Dodge County Sheriff.

She has no connection with Milwaukee socialists.

There is a big disconnect between Madison area liberals and Milwaukee socialists.

Burke is not electable.

So the party of "It's your money", "we built that", and "takers vs. job creators" are complaining about entitlement mentality? Are they f-ing kidding?

These people know Walker is very vulnerable. Look at the fearful BS they and trolls like the weak-sauce Anonymous poster above are already trying to float. I'm not huge on a Burke candidacy, and think the Dems can do better (or Burke could state her case better) but she clearly scares the crap out of the WisGOPs.

I think we all may be surprised at how strong a candidate Mary Burke is. We haven't until now had a chance to really learn about her. It takes guts to run for Governor under the best conditions. Walker has done a lot of damage to Wisconsin's economy and state institutions including public education. Who would want to take that on? And yet here is Mary Burke, former Commerce Secretary, who knows what it is like to work at the state level, wanting to come in fix things. Good Luck to Mary and all the other Democratic candidates and Thank you for wanting to take on the worst governor WI has ever had and his billionaire sponsors.

Her Bio and photo on J/S online paints this race as more of a Republican primary.

Curious confession by Burke though;
"...growing up in Wauwatosa then in Hartland." Walker's family didn't bail on Milwaukee County.

Going to be hard to carry Milwaukee County if you're not from there.

Well spit it out already. Who's your golden candidate?

If Burke wins the primary you've pretty much positioned a lot of would be Democrat voters to sit this race out. Nice job.

Who are all these anonymous trolls? Had she listened to them, Tammy Baldwin would be quietly practicing law back in Madison.

Anon, I grew up in Milwaukee and disagree with your statement completely. For starters...

Governors...
Thompson R Elroy
Lucey D LaCrosse
Reynolds D Green Bay
Nelson D Clear Lake

That's ridiculous. Jim Doyle was not from Milwaukee County. Besides, Wauwatosa IS in Milwaukee County.

Really, it's no mystery why you prefer to remain anonymous.

yeah, it was a shame that that prevented Doyle from being elected Governor.

Sheesh. pretty weak try at suppressing enthusiasm. You just made me feel like she has a really good shot!

Although I have to admit you may have a point about the insurmountable gap between Madison liberals and Milwaukee Socialists, considering that all the Milwaukee Socialists are long dead. That's a hard gap to cross.

The commentators above accurate called out the gutless GOP troll for his lame "analysis", so I really don't need to pile on too much.

What I will say is that if Burke ultimately is the candidate for the Dems, I'll support her heavily, and she may surprise me in a positive way (Id like to see her get out and try). Also, by Nov 2014, my 11-year-old beagle might be able to beat Scott Walker, especially if Scotty keeps humiliating Wisconsinites through lie-filled garbage similar to the bilge he threw up on the Washington Post today

Scared of something, arent they? Maybe it's that 31% GOP approval rating

Capper got it right on a previous post; "sn't that similar to what they said about Chris Abele? We can't afford to make that mistake again."

She seems more like a polished business person than a sincere representative of working class people. Actually, more like Walker than an opposite.

Anon 6:04 PM- Keep planting seeds. We'll keep pulling your weeds. You are really going to have to do better.

So Jake, you really don't support her at all. Your vote is really just anti-Walker venom hate speech like the rabid recallers.

Burke isn't really the "Milwaukee" candidate after all now is she?

This is going to be fun watching liberals beat themselves up just to lose to Walker again.

Dude, stop digging. Go back to GOP hack school for more training on your talking points.

Anon- If you've been folowing this blog and it's comments for any period of time, I think you'd know whom the majority of those responding in this thread feel Kathleen Vinehout is also an excellent candidate and would like to see a primary for a number of reasons.

(This is a report of a comment I made in another thread but it belongs here too.)

http://www.uppitywis.org/blogarticle/governorship

This post from Uppity makes a great point. Let's stop talking about why we think Mary Burke is the best or favorite choice. Save that talk for the kitchen table or the pub.

All the talk about Mary's hair, offshoring Trek jobs or inherited wealth is just fluff. The Republican party know it. Not that anyone who gives it a moment of critical thought would not think of Sensenbrenner or Johnson when relating to those subjects. But that's really all they've got.

What we should be talking about and HAMMERNG HOME is why Walker is such a poor choice for governor. Lay out the horrors of his governorship and how much stench trails behind him.

It's a long and dirty list that just keeps on giving. Use it.

@zombie rotten mcdonald- How can I get invited to your blog? Tried to look at it through your Word Press link but I can't access it.

Well imagine that, Burke agrees with Walker that ACT 10 works!

Peas in a pod. A real conservative at heart.

Anonymous, it would be great if you could have the respect to pick a nym.

Unless of course, all you care about is slagging Mary Burke as much as possible, with no real concern for civility or internet manners.

Which is what I suspect, since nothing in that article even comes close to what your comment said. Reading for comprehension is a basic skill of modern life, nonnie. Please practice.

Anonymous said...

Nobody is slagging Ms. Burke. Her strengths and conservative leanings are being highlighted.

Anon 3:27 got it right.

Act 10 provided the opportunity for property tax relief from the state. Burke agrees that property tax relief is the proper thing for the state to do. Burke could have stuck her foot in her mouth, but she seems to be honest enough to agree with Republicans. Good for her. She doesn't seem to fit the Madtown mold.

Yes Zombie, comprehension is a basic skill of modern life.

CJ said...

Think we should stop feeding the troll? I think we should let him play by himself for a while.

zombie rotten mcdonald said...

Possibly true, CJ. after all, when you have someone who is unable to comprehend that THIS:

Act 10 provided the opportunity for property tax relief from the state.

and this:

Burke agrees that property tax relief is the proper thing for the state to do.

do not equal "Mary Burke supports Act 10"

Then what can you do? Also, it basically ignores blog manners by refusing to move out from behind the anonymous tag; understandable, I guess, considering the hateful, ill-considered and ridiculous things it tends to say.

Anonymous said...

Can you possibly cite just 1 year of property tax relief under Jim Doyle - Mary Burke's boss!
