Powerful Piece About Land Stewardship In Ozaukee County
Don Behm writes about an effort to save pristine Lake Michigan bluffs:
A trio of land conservation partners is stepping in to make an offer on a 200-acre chunk of the property wrapping around a deep ravine known as Cedar Heights Gorge.
The lakeshore face of the land is a series of steep clay and sand bluffs reaching 120 to 170 feet above the water on both sides of the gorge.
The Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy and the Ozaukee County Planning & Parks Department are scrambling to put together a financing package to purchase and preserve natural features in the corridor on the southeast corner of the city of Port Washington.
