Sheriff David Clarke's Bad Week Continues

Called out as irresponsible by Ald. Bob Bauman one day, accused by Milwaukee County's Chief Judge of telling a lie on another.

If bad things happen in three's, I wonder if there's anything else?

Oh, there it is, in another Journal Sentinel story:

Clarke drops legal fight over laid-off deputies

Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. announced Thursday that he was giving up his legal fight over deputy layoffs as the county prepared to issue 48 pink slips.

Those deputies' last day of work will be Monday.

Clarke had sought to block the layoffs and waged an unsuccessful months-long campaign against the 2012 budget cuts that forced the elimination of the jobs. He gave up the effort after a judge in one of two lawsuits over the layoffs agreed with the county on the number of deputy job cuts....

Clarke backs down...

Clarke wasn't available for comment, [a spokeswoman] said.

From the Urban Dictionary
Showboat (verb) [shoh-boht]

1. To have a visibly exaggerated idea of ones own skills, talents, or abilities.
2. To exhibit a grotesque amount of undue and unfounded pride for a skill or ability which is actually mediocre.

There's a "Showboat" that people have enjoyed seeing and hearing--a musical hit on Broadway exactly 85 years ago--that has been revived every decade since then.

One suspects that Sheriff Clarke will--mercifully--have a shorter shelf-life.

Sheriff Clarke is the only politician that I admire and support. He tells it the way it is.
