Strong Argument For Bike Access On Iconic Milwaukee Lakefront Bridge

In advance of a state transportation meeting on the subject, The Journal Sentinel gets this one right in favor of bike users.

As to the opinion that the bridge is too difficult to cross or too windy, a member of the Editorial Board this week took a bike across San Francisco's Golden Gate bridge and had a terrific experience. If the Golden Gate can be made safe for bicyclists, why can't the Hoan?
Monday's meeting will be in the DOT offices at 1001 W. St. Paul Ave., starting at 5 p.m.
Chris Larson, one of the region's state senators, has been leading the pack.

How does the incline (or decline) of the Hoan bridge compare with that of the Golden Gate? Anybody know? That would seem to be a key question.

A follow up question might be, how many inches of snow hits the Golden Gate each year?

To Ron R: Give people choices. Snow can be cleared, by the way.

I've biked on the Hoan. The incline is much less than many hills in our County Parks. It's an easy hill to ride up sitting down on the bike seat.
