I joined the St Colman Parish Federal Credit Union in 1954, and have been a CU member ever since. That parish in Cleveland has dwindled from having an elementary school with 800 students to a little Puerto Rican daycare program. But, the St Colman Credit Union is still there--strong, solvent, never-bailed-out--providing a killer alternative to the stinking loan-shark payday lenders which are capitalized by the--you guessed it--BIG BANKS.

I briefly had a bank account in my first couple of years as an undergraduate at UW-Madison. Ever since I graduated more than 30 years ago, I've been a credit union member. Easy decision, all the way.
