Transmission Lines Threaten Milwaukee County Grounds

Public meeting today, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Wauwatosa Civic Center, 7725 W. North Ave.

Seems corporate and other powerful interests just can't keep their hands off what's left of open space at the west edge of Milwaukee County: The Zoo Interchange project, UWM's Engineering and Innovation Center, Underwood Creek as Waukesha's wastewater dsicharge point, etc.

All proposed routes have damaging human and environmental impacts. It would behoove the ATC to be more creative in their planning. If the future of all of these neighborhoods, hospitals, medical research entities and environmental coridors will be based on cost the ATC will certainly be a dinosaur within 10years.

The Zoo Interchange project has already opened up the spigot to significantly increased volume of traffic. The air and noise pollution will only get worse. It's just flat out wrong when I can't communicate with a neighbor because of "freeway" traffic noise. Until gas prices hit $5.00 per gallon in the Milwaukee area we won't see any progress. I look forward to the day when I can take efficient mass transportation. Will this ever happen? Probably not in my lifetime.
