News Flash: We Already Ration Health Care In The US, With Deadly Results

You may remember that among the fake arguments raised by the Right over more government participation in national health care was that services would be rationed, thus diminishing the availability of the best health care system in the world.

Further evidence out Wednesday showing just how far those claims are from the reality, as the US rate of infant mortality has slipped to 41st out of 45 industrialized countries worldwide.

Pre-natal care and other services are not available to poor women in the US, and their children are dying.

Care is rationed by geography, class, race and gender in the US already.

Update: Kudos to Milwaukee United Way for addressing the issue.

How about a posting on the killing of unborn children to coincide with this article.

How can anyone be supportive of improvements in one are, but against stopping the other?

RD, you might have a point if, concurrent with all the anti-abortion legislation being introduced around the country, linked legislation providing adequate and no-strings-attached healthcare for children once they are born was also both introduced and adopted.
How can anyone be supportive of stopping one but against improvements in the other?

To RD: The posting is about infant mortality and health care. Stay on point. Why not address that without the conflation?

RD:In addition to the points made by Sue and James, the best 2 tools to reduce unintended pregnancies and therefore abortions, are 1) honest, medically accurate sex education and 2) contraception services and medication available to all who want them at low or no cost.

Why is the anti-abortion crowd so opposed to these common-sense, low cost measures?

BTW, 1) and 2) above are on point to the original posting as well.
