Walker Is Giving Away What Isn't His To Take
When reading Walker's budget - - with its emphasis on privatization and sops to private interests - - capital gains tax breaks, a new, $200 million State Commerce Department and Glee Club, revenue shifts to choice schools, more millions to the road-builders, but deep cuts to local governments and higher education, and all sorts of social safety net and justice programs - - it felt like his corporate sponsors and the think-tanks they finance had finagled a kind of private equity buyout or takeover of public sector's resources - - our common assets.
Then it occurred to me that that was the wrong analogy.
There's a takeover proposed, and already underway - - but no buyout: we're getting nothing back except grief, pain, layoffs, and fewer rights.
It's not a buyout - - it's a giveaway of common resources and, equally outrageous, a giveaway of private assets, like careers, paid-for educations, family budgets, and the like.
Walker is engineering this gift in exchange for past and future political considerations and contributions from his contributor patrons: corporate CEO's, wealthy right-wing ideologues and self-serving libertarian power-hoarders.
One word for this is theft.

Last night, I read your post and, not being very familiar with The Reason Foundation, looked at their website. I got immediate stomach pains and couldn't sleep.
People (normal Wisconsinites, not just a few wonks) need to know what "they" want and how this truly is an extremist takeover.
How about "Workplace Schools"?! Yup, each corporation setting up its own K-12 school system.
Along with all the private roads, prisons, and everything.
It doesn't meet any logic test - adding a profit motive onto all types services will NOT increase efficiency. It can't. The only area of flexibility will be quality, which will necessarily have to go down in order for profits to go up. And they will be expected to INCREASINGLY rise, since that is the corporate model.No one just "hits a level", they MUST go up yup up.
Apply that ethos to education children....
This is not America we are seeing. it is the beginning of The New Feudalism.
Corporate schools overseen by...corporations. This is where Walker is leading(dragging) us. How long till these Corporations begin going to war with each other? The end conclusion of these behaviors would be the death of Nations. The world being structured by Corporate-Feudal entities to which we all owe fealty.
This is one hundred percent UN-AMERICAN
Why aren't Democrats and people who already know about this stuff REALLY screaming and making an effort to educate the public on this extremist take-over? with specifics?
It all boils down to creating an institutionalized and government-supported Caste System for America. This "budget repair" is just the social bulldozer, clearing the way so that Walker can let his overlords begin building it HERE!
