State Officials To Protestors: Go Home

Didn't work in Cairo for the last Pharaoh there, so why should it work for the Wannabe Pharaoh here?

This from The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel account of the ongoing rally in the Capitol in Madison:

"Shortly after 9 p.m., demonstrators began chanting, “Let us speak, let us speak” outside of the hearing room of the Joint Finance Committee after they were told the testimony would eventually be cut off. Sen. Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) demanded that everyone be allowed to speak.

Rep. Robin Vos (R-Rochester), co-chairman of the committee, said he wanted to whittle down the list of speakers, but said he didn’t believe all the people who requested to speak would be allowed to do so. That could take 10 more hours, he said around 9 p.m.

Vos said he intended go through as many names as possible, but he described efforts by opponents to line up long lists of speakers as a “citizen filibuster that doesn’t necessarily serve your purposes.”\

“It’s not a filibuster,” said Taylor. “It’s democracy.'”
