Innovative Villard Ave. Development In Milwaukee Could Inform Oak Creek Plan

Oak Creek might locate some private offices, even a library, in a new City Hall complex.

In a tough economy, why not get creative with some well-designed public spaces?

And there's a great new local model: Milwaukee is about to put a new Villard Ave. library in a complex with housing for grandparents who are raising their grand kids.

The library will feature computers and printers for students and neighborhood residents producing resumes, and the housing obviously addresses the need for good housing for seniors and families looking to provide a solid environment for children - - who can pop right over to the library.

Talk about mixed-use genius by the Mayor, a business association, Library Board et al.

Details here and here.
