Oakland Rail Project Loses Federal Funds Over Equality Issues

It looks like the Obama administration is getting serious about federal transportation funds meeting equality measures.

This could signal that projects in this region ranging from the I-94 interstate ramp in heavily-white Western Waukesha County to a stalled shopping mall project at Pabst Farms to major portions of the SEWRPC-inspired, sprawl-inducing, suburb-pleasing $6.2 billion-no transit-spending freeway expansion plan are in jeopardy.

The ACLU and others have been complaining about and documenting the lack of equality in highway spending and related planning matters for years in our hyper-segregated region.

If we looked at the costs of highways on certain stretches on a per driver basis, I am sure we would be shocked at the expense.
