Mayor Dave: Two Rail Stops In Madison

A good idea, and one that will rescue the high-speed rail plan from trouble if the only stop is at the Dane County Regional Airport, where no one from Milwaukee or Chicago will want to arrive.

Turn the issue around: people from the Twin Cities or Madison would not ride the train for business or tourism in the downtown if the only stop were Mitchell airport.

Madison needs a stop within walking distance of the Capitol.

James - if the budgeting stays as is and there is funding for only one stop in Madison, why would you not forgo the Airport stop and just have the downtown-ish one?

If we are going have this train service, would want to make it as functional as possible regardless of my overriding stand against it.

Please note I am not familiar with the logistics of the existing and/or proposed Milw-Mad rail routes, so do not have a good understanding why a rail route without a downtown stop would be going through there anyways.
