National and State Leaders to Convene in Madison for Green Jobs Talks

Mayor Cieslewicz to Announce New Programs That Will Create Green Jobs and
Encourage Energy Efficiency Retrofits

Madison, WI – Mayor Dave Cieslewicz will announce new energy efficiency initiatives TOMORROW, February 2, as part of the Clean Energy Roadshow’s stop in Madison. The Roadshow brings together national, state and local leaders representing government, business, labor and environmental groups to find ways to spur collaborative public-private investment in a clean energy economy and create good, green jobs for American workers. Wisconsin is the Roadshow’s sixth stop in a multi-city, multi-state national tour that is expected to run through 2011.

In conjunction with the tour, Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz will announce new programs aimed at providing green jobs training to his city’s residents and weatherizing local small businesses and low-income family homes. The programs will be funded by federal stimulus money.

The Mayor will make the announcement at the future home of Fontana Sports. The building that will soon be housing the local small business is currently undergoing an energy efficiency retrofit.
