Scott Walker Blows Off Constituency

Walker says he doesn't want stimulus funding for Milwaukee County.

Easy for him to say: He has a big salary, fully-paid health care and a great pension.

Talk about a craven and cynical pre-2010 gubernatorial election ploy.

Update: Some Walker supporters think he's off-base, like business leader Tim Sheehy.

I predict the Journal Sentinel will editorially spank Walker, too.

Isn't it time to find a new County Exec, particularly one who will also help break the local and regional transit funding logjam?

"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."
- Proverbs 16:18

This is Walker's hubris.

As the elected leader of the Wisconsin county with the highest concentration of poverty, he should learn humility, and do what is best for his people. True moral authority comes from humility and service to others. Necon lectures do not put food on the table.

"And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."
- MAT 23:12

In not asking for funds he continues to ignore the poor, sick and unemployed that he is responsible for.

This not just wrong but morally reprehensible. The consequences for Christians ignoring the poor and destitute are well codified in Mathew.

"Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.'

... 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' - MAT 21:41-45

This is Walker's "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" moment.

The emperor, it seems, has no brains. But we already knew that. So much for running for Governor.
