Framk Busalacchi Cabinet Rumors Still On Track

Rumors persist that Wisconsin Transportation Department Secretary Frank Busalacchi will be named US Transportation Secretary by President-Elect Barack Obama.

The Marquette Interchange project (loved by insiders, despite its cost), successful Milwaukee-Chicago Amtrak (still without a local rail connection in Milwaukee), and Busalacchi's support for national passenger rail are said to be among the reasons, along with his Teamsters/labor background.

Had the state under his WisDOT tenure assertively stepped in on behalf of Milwaukee transit and urban rail, Busalacchi's support in Wisconsin for the federal post would have been broader.

See Gretchen Schuldt post, here.

I'd put the odds at about 30-70, so he's in the game, and improving if the Obama stimulus plan is all-roads, all-the-time.
