Multiple Polls Suggest Negative Campaigning Backfiring On GOP

Reuters reported today that the Zogby poll showed an expanding lead of eight points for Barack Obama, with gains in most groups.

The New York Times reported separately that McCain and Palin's negatives are on the rise, and it all suggests that negative campaigning is blowing back.

The Obama campaign has had a theme of unity since its beginning, while Team McCain has gone around the bend, divvying up states and people into "pro" and "anti-American" camps.

That's not much of a message to bring voters into a campaign.

I think people know the country is in trouble, and that we're all in this together, which dooms a divisive campaign to well-earned defeat.

Please tell me you are not so blind as to notice that both sides have relied on negative campaign ads and/or at the very least disceitful.

The McCain campaign has relied on major negative ad buys, plus name-calling by McCain, Palin and top surrogates that goes far beyond what the other side has done.

We hear terms from them like socialistic, communistic, anti-American and so forth aimed at Obama. From the mobs at rallies, worse.

You do see that, right?

We're just as guilty of negative ads as McCain.

Personally, I'm getting so sick of Obama inundating the radio and TV with commercials. If there was another viable choice other than a Republican, I'd leave the Obama camp.

What really ticked me off was his latest ad directly targeting Milwaukee. Simply shameful. http://www.twincities.com/wisconsin_travel/ci_10794365.

The saving grace is that in a couple more weeks, the ads will stop and we know we'll be back at the helm.
