Colin Powell's Endorsement Of Barack Obama Is A Big Deal

As more and more Republicans defect to Obama or choose to sit it out, the GOP will become a marginalized, minor party of Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the Righty Zealots.

Limbaugh will actually be happier with an Obama presidency that the self-proclaimed El Rushbo can rail at daily.

I agree. It signals that the Dems have moved so far to the right even pro war Republicans like Powell are comfortable.

I disagree. I take Powell at his word that he understands Obama is a transformational figure and the country needs it.

And that the country cannot afford more rightwing, Bush-like Supreme Court nominations.

It's nice to think the Conservatives will pay for their zealotry and nastiness, but I do not think they will be marginalized. Maybe temporarily, until there is a crisis in the Dems Administration, and the country swings back for a while. I do think Rush and Company must be grateful for the chance to hack at a Democrat. It had to be boring when they had no one in office they wanted to complain about for a few years, so they had to blame all their messes on imagined leftovers from Bill Clinton. But many consider Powell a feather in any candidates cap, and it is nice that he made the right choice this time.
