Madison Gas Prices 26 Cents Below Milwaukee's
Recent stories indicated that the special gasoline formulation for southeastern Wisconsin adds 14 cents a gallon to the price.
So why is regular gasoline on E. Capitol Dr. in Milwaukee at $4.199, $3.999 in Lake Mills and $3.939 in Madison (the BP station on E. Washington just below the Square)?

Anyway, a few cents either way hardly seems to matter. I did nothing but drive over the holiday, 1000km, and that cost me $44. Would have been $42 at the Madison price. When not driving back and forth repeatedly to Chicago and just living normally, I drove the same distance between May 20 and July 2. Dollar a day in gasoline. Insurance costs considerably more, never mind the car itself.
Of course, if I drove a crew-cab V-8 pickup truck, I suppose it would be different...
Even my Honda Civic hybrid doesn't get that kind of mileage. What are you driving?
Prius. Now that it's summer and the engine warms up almost immediately it's pretty easy to get up to the high-50s low-60s. All that road construction in Chicago (is anything not under construction in Chicago?) helps by keeping the speed down. Actually obey the construction zone speed limit (which, in theory, is supposed to be compulsory...) and it will easily exceed 60MPG.
Impressive. Our recent road trips in the Civic were between 49-52 mpg.
I know that Prius is the gold standard.
